IT IS DONE! I HAVE READ THE WHOLE BIBLE!

What a wonderful day, Today at 1:45 p.m. I officially FINISHED reading the Whole Bible! It has been a journey well worth the taking. Although the speed at which we read left little time for depth of study it in turn kept the story fresh as we read so it was easier to tie it together.

The OT story I love the best is Job. It's not a pretty story nor is it a particularly well written story. But the story of Job tells a story of love beyond that found in any romance. It tells of loyalty that's above any royal military. It speaks of sacrifice and and long suffering. Job is a story of a man who loved God so much he worshiped him although everything he had was taken away, even his family and his health.

The NT story I loved the best...well I can't pick. I loved the stories of Jesus Baptism, the women and the tomb, the men on the road to emaus, The birth of the Christ child, and so many others.

I am an avid fan of Southern Gospel Music, a loyal follower of Bill and Gloria Gaither. As I read the New Testament I heard the music in my head. I sang my way from Matthew to Revelations. I think Bill and Gloria have recorded just about all of it in song. I am going to have to get out the CDs /DVDs and play them.

I want to thank Amy for all the encouragement and prayers. I also want to thank our little team here. I have enjoyed this. I will have to find a new topic for my little blog.

Almost Home

I thought I would share a picture of my dogs and me. Sookie on the left of the picture is my daughter's 1 year old poodle pom. Sunny Lee on the right is my 14 year old Maltese. That's me in the middle.

I am not a young mom like most of you. My baby is a 37 year old cross country truck driver. But I am a mom. I began this trip, this journey through God's Word, on July 15. Not one day of it has been a chore. The expected end of the trip is October 2 but I think I will finish earlier than that. I finished James today and could possibly finish the rest this weekend if I don't just stop to do something else.

I want to say that I have read things in this "read" that I have not paid much attention to before. We as Christians have focused on "winning souls" and bringing in the harvest. We have heard so many times the charge to "go into all the world." Somewhere along the line we began to focus on numbers saved and church attendance, etc. Reading Hebrews again today brought back to my mind that our job as Christians is to go tell the Good News, Teach, Preach and Baptize. God will bring the increase. He will gather the harvest. It's our job to plant the seeds and keep them watered. God will bring the increase.

There is a lot more I want to think about in depth but right now I'm just reading the story and happy for the opportunity.

It's Monday. Just John and Me

I am finishing John 19 at the present. I could not get to my goal last night, just too sleepy so I stopped in the middle of John 19.

I have read the gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John so many times but it speaks to me anew this time. Perhaps reading them together adds another layer. I am enjoying the read. Can't wait for the next part.

As for me, I have had no pain since Friday. My neurologist put me on Depakote for the pain. I was real leery about taking this medication but it is having a positive effect on the pain.

Thursday: No Pain!

I went to see my neurologist on Wednesday, Sept 8th. The pain in my head had gotten severe and had become a daily occurrence despite the anxiety and neurological meds I am taking. The doctor prescribed Depacote for the migraines. It seems to work. I haven't had a real headache in 2 days. I do feel a little jittery but no pain.

My "B90Days" reading is coming along great. I just finished Luke and have begun John.

Friday-I'm Reading Matthew and loving it!

I am reading Matthew 18 presently. The New Testament goes faster than the OT and I can relate the story line better. I suppose that's because I have read and studied it so much more.

I am so ready to feel the love of the NT instead of the retaliation and punishment of the OT.

Monday, Sept. 6 Labor Day

It's a beautiful day that the Lord has made and I for one am rejoicing in it. I am working in my yard and garden today and loving it. I love the fall even though it's extra work, it is just so good. The smell of the leaves and the feel and sound of the breeze rustling through the leaves as they complete their life cycle and the trees prepare for rest. I love it! Not to mention the COLORS! Here in eastern KY we have the best fall color of any place I think. But then I am a little prejudiced.

I am on Day 66 of my #B90 days reading. Almost out of the Old Testament. My daughter loaded both old and new testaments on my Iphone for me yesterday. She thought I was putting my eyes out using a little book reading light. I have to admit I liked that. It reads to you or you can read it from a lighted screen. I should have thought about that 66 days ago.

I praise the Lord that my Mom is doing better. She is recovering from her surgery pretty well. Thanks to everyone for the prayers on her behalf.
